Trenchless Technology
Trenchless Underground Lateral Directional Boring Technology is the newest method of installing underground utilities, such as water, sewer, electrical utilities and drainage piping, using non-intrusive methods. Trenchless Technology consists of: Water Jetting, Air Compression, Pneumatic Moles and Pipe Jacking.
The Polyethylene Pressure Pipe that is used in the drilling system comes in various diameter sizes and has outstanding chemical resistance. Unlike asbestos or steel pipe it is non-contaminating to the earth, is flexible with a bending radius of 10 times it's diameter, has excellent hydraulic properties, is lightweight and abrasive resistant. The joints are heat welded together on-site, eliminating the need for couplings, rubber gaskets and slip joints. Polyethylene pipe is made from a high density, extra high molecular weight compound equaling a PE 3480 designation and conforms to ASTM-1248 and ASTM-3350 specifications, with a cell classification of 345434C. Complete specifications are available upon request.
Heider Construction is one of a very few companies on the East Coast that have invested in the future with these advanced machines. We have acquired the proper training, gained valuable field experience and employ state-of-the-art computer technology to help us make the best use of this very efficient system. We are very pleased to bring this new, complex technology to the area.
Trenchless Technology…. What is it?
A. Trenchless Technology is a process of installing and replacing utilities under the ground without using the common “open cut trench excavation” method.
A. With specialized equipment, there are actually several methods. They are: Pipe Jacking. Using a pneumatic piercing tool (or “pneumatic mole”) Pipe bursting Directional drilling. Trenchless repair work can also be done by relining old pipes with spray-on resins.
A. No, some trenchless contractors only perform one or two of these options. We however do have the equipment to employ any one of these options. Some projects benefit by synergizing two or more of these technologies together.
A. Absolutely. We most often use these methods to install pipes under bodies of water such as wetlands, streams, and rivers which must remain undisturbed. We also install lines under busy roads and intersections, walls, buildings, and complicated landscapes without disturbing the surface.
A. If ledge is encountered, we can still get the pipe in. By using specialized rock drilling equipment, we can drill through the rock without blasting or hammering.
A. That’s easy! Call or email “Heider Construction”, the company that’s been around for over 40 years. We have been in the trenchless excavation business since 1996. Ask us for a free assessment of your project.
